The Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (B-SUBEB), Professor Yahaya Ibrahim Yero hascommended United Nation’s Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for aiding Bauchi State in the education sector.
The commendation was made by chairman at the distributionceremony of five thousand units of customized devices by UNESCO, to fifty thousand learners of non formal educationsystem in Bauchi State.
Professor Yero said the state government had approved and released the sum of one hundred and fifty US Dollars as its counterpart fund for the purchase of three thousand of the devices, stressing that, “the payment of the counterpart fund is to ensure effective implementation of the project in the state”.
Yero used the occasion to express Bauchi State government’s gratitude to UNESCO for considering the State to be the pilot in the implementation of the project, as well as it’s contributions to the educational advancement of the state.
According to him, the distribution of the devices is to assist the beneficiaries in the cost of their learning through the use of the devices.
The SUBEB Chairman also said that forty thousand units of the devices were for learners under Bauchi State Agency for Mass Education, while the remaining ten thousand units were for low performing students of junior secondary schools under the board.
On his part, the Head of Communication and Information UNESCO Regional Office Abuja, Mr. Macaulay Olushola said the distribution of the devices was part of the organization’s commitment to ensure effective learning in the non formal education.
Mr Olushola appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the facilities for the improvement of their learning.
